Project

Magic, for Julie Eng, has been a lifelong passion. She has seen many opportunities to share her love of magic with others.  Here are some of the recent magic projects she has participated in:

MAGIC MOMENTS: A Day of Sharing Magic

Magic MomentsJulie Eng organized a special, one-day magic seminar (affectionately called, Magic Day) where 10 professional magicians gifted 40 at-risk children with a four hour magic lesson and magic show. The goal was to generate fun, laughter and magic for children who visited a local Toronto Community Centre.

Julie and her magic friends created the project to demonstrate compassion to the children and to their situation. The main objective was to put words into action: show the children that anything is possible, despite circumstances. The bonus effect: the magic community came together in the spirit of sharing and camaraderie and make a tremendous group contribution to something truly magical, while bringing an invaluable gift to another community

The next two projects are thanks to Magicana, a charitable organization dedicated to promoting magic as a performance art, and instrumental in creating two exceptional magic-driven, community outreach programs.

MAGIC HANDS

Magic HandsJulie is honoured to be one of three professional magicians selected to participate in Magic Hands

Magicana has developed, with generous funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, a program to introduce this creative process to children in hospitals, community centers and schools in at-risk areas.

Magic HandsThe Goals: Learning and performing even the most simple of magic tricks illustrates the process, creativity, discipline and skill set required in the arts.

For a child, the idea of practice, rehearsal, scripting, directing and performing may sound daunting, boring, out of reach. Children develop through Magic Hands self-confidence, self-esteem and awareness for the arts through the metaphor of magic.
